Alton Fringe Theatre delivers a bold, fast paced reimagining of William Shakespeare\u2019s Julius Caesar<\/strong>, plunging audiences into a world where political ambition, public manipulation and the price of loyalty feel utterly contemporary. This new staging thrusts Shakespeare\u2019s drama into the \u2018here and now\u2019 where the themes of populism, love, loyalty and betrayal all find contemporary resonance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caesar is welcomed home in triumph by the crowds. That welcome is not shared by those who suspect Caesar will make a power grab and be crowned king. Embarking upon a conspiracy to eliminate Caesar, their fateful decision reshapes the nation. The aftermath spirals into chaos as rhetoric becomes weaponised, crowds are swayed and the fragile line between hero and tyrant blurs. Alton Fringe Theatre\u2019s signature immersive, intimate and intense style brings audiences close to the action, inviting them to witness the consequences of political theatre in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is Shakespeare stripped back, sharpened, and pulsing with relevance. Whether you\u2019re drawn to the moral conflict of Brutus, the magnetic force of Mark Antony, the fracturing relationship between Cassius and Brutus or the chilling rise and fall of Caesar, this production promises a gripping night of live performance that speaks directly to today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fringe’s contribution to Alton’s 2026 Arts Festival<\/strong> were a pair of acting workshops run by the exciting London-based company Frantic Assembly<\/a><\/strong>. Two sessions, one for adults in the morning and one for younger people in the afternoon, were greatly enjoyed and valued by all who took part – including members of the Julius Caesar cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
